You have reached a real stauer watch review, and will get to know these watches based on my personal experience with the product, model, and the Stauer company itself.

Stauer Watches:

I first started seeing these watches advertised in Motor Trend magazine as they had a full page ad in ever issue and continue to this very day with sometimes 2 to 3 ads per issue with a different Stauer model on display.

The one that really caught my eye was the “
STAUER NOIRE WATCH” watch, all black with a moon phrase set in the dial. It was a handsome watch with its black leather band and black dial and face, even the hands were luminescent so I could view it in the dark. Black is my favorite color. Honestly, since I am stubborn it took a few issues of me staring at it for me to actually order the watch as I usually do not buy stuff from magazines or Internet.

I chose to do the 3 pay option of $33 each for a total of $99. The watch came within a few short days via the mail and like a kid on Christmas day I tore open the box to see my new watch!

The first thing I saw was the white box labeled “Stauer” then inside the box was a black leather covered box with the noire black watch nicely snug inside laying flat and covered in plastic and another static plastic cover on the dial, very well protected …like Fort Knox. Right away I could smell the “new” and the leather of the band. I tried it on and noticed how heavy it felt compared to my el cheapo plastic Casio I had been wearing for about a year.

It was obvious the leather band need to be broken in and it was a bit stiff. The settings were all made after glancing over the instruction manual and viola, my new watch was keeping perfect time and looking very cool on my wrist.

STAUER NOIRE WATCH

This watch never needs winding as it is automatic and relies on the movement of your wrist and arm to keep itself wound. If you do not wear it a day or two, it will stop. Just plan to pick it up and move it around for a minute to get the gears moving if you will not be wearing it. Or you may choose to buy an automatic winder as Stauer has those available too. It is best to keep these watches wound and moving to preserve the life of the watch.

However I would have preferred a lithium battery to the automatic winding feature as I often think it will stop and will need to be reset and wound again, but that rarely ever happens… and yet it still sticks in the back of my mind. If their is another “con” I would have to say the weight as is a tad heavy, gets some getting used too. But can’t complain cause it is made of real metal, crystal, and leather.

Long Term Stauer Watches Update:
Over a year later and this watch is a worn daily with zero problems, I love it and so does everyone else that sees it as they want one too! By the way it only took about a week to break in the leather band. Nowhere near as expensive as a Tourneau, but just as damn good.

This watch is well worth the $99 I paid for it and then some, superb quality for a watch this inexpensive, and quite frankly I was surprised by that. Was not expecting it be the cool gizmo I saw in the ad, but it was indeed. Since then I have purchased a few more Stauer watches online for myself as well as gifts for friends, family, and my very special lady friend… Never any complaints as these are unique gifts you can only get from Stauer and are well received.

The Stauer company is run very well in my opinion, and their customer service is friendly and informative. They really do seem to be an honest operation that wants AND appreciates your business and desires to keep you as a long term customer, and why not?
